It’s time for another Classic Club Spin, in which we club members select 20 books from our lists, and the club picks a number, determining which book we read next.
So, with no more further ado, here is my list for this spin:
- The Prince by Machievelli
- I Go by Land, I Go by Sea by P. L. Travers
- Edward II by Christopher Marlowe
- August Folly by Angela Thirkell
- Titus Andronicus by William Shakespeare
- Challenge by Vita Sackville-West
- Oroonoko by Aphra Behn
- The Sea Hawk by Raphael Sabatini
- The Duchess of Malfi by John Webster
- The Last of the Wine by Mary Renault
- Mansfield Park by Jane Austen
- Mary Lavalle by Kate O’Brien
- The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë
- Coromandel Sea Change by Rumer Godden
- The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
- Three Weeks by Elinor Glyn
- The Viscount de Braggelone by Alexandre Duma
- My Brilliant Career by Miles Franklin
- Kennilworth by Sir Walter Scott
- The Winged Horse by Pamela Frankau
I want to read The Tenant of Wildfell Hall but it is so long. Someday I will have to give in. The Sea Hawk would also be interesting.
That would be a reread for me, but I remember it as being really good and quite up with the times. I haven’t read The Sea Hawk yet, though. Sabatini is always fun.
I hope you get Mansfield Park, although Kennilworth sounds so musical might I hope you get it instead. I’ve read all of Austen but never Scott.
Actually, I already read Mansfield Park, just last week, but haven’t reviewed it on my blog yet, so that would be kind of cheating!
Ah! Well, I hope you get Scott then. 😉
I loved The Sea Hawk so I hope you get that one, but I enjoyed The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and The Viscount de Bragelonne too.
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall will be a re-read, but I haven’t read either of the others. I seem to always get the books I don’t want to read as much in these spins. We’ll see how it goes.
The Brothers Karamazov is one of my favourites! Not an easy read though but Dostoyevsky never is. Have a great spin!
Thanks! You, too!
I’m with Cleo…I love the Brothers K. The only one I’ve read here though. I also have The Tenant of Wildfell Hall on my spin list, but at a different number. Enjoy!
You, too!
What an intriguing list. I’ve come across Scott mentioned in so many books and always intend to read him but haven’t yet.
He was one of the first historical novelists.
