It seems like we just had a Classics Club Spin, and now it’s time for another one. How does it work? If you have posted a Classics Club list, select 20 books from it and post a numbered list of those books before Sunday, October 20. On that day, the club will announce a number, which determines which book from the list you will read first. The challenge is to read that book by December 18.
So, here is my list:
- The Passenger by Ulrich Alexander Boschwitz
- Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs
- Hero and Leander by Christopher Marlowe
- Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens
- Les Misérables by Victor Hugo
- The Tavern Knight by Rafael Sabatini
- The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas
- Love’s Labour’s Lost by William Shakespeare
- The Princess of Cleves by Madame de La Fayette
- The Methods of Lady Walderhurst by Frances Hodgson Burnett
- The Book of Lamentations by Rosario Castellanos
- Tis Pity She’s a Whore by John Ford
- Cecilia, Memoirs of an Heiress by Frances Burney
- The Passenger by Ulrich Alexander Boschwitz
- Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs
- Hero and Leander by Christopher Marlowe
- The Tavern Knight by Rafael Sabatini
- The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas
- Love’s Labour’s Lost by William Shakespeare
- The Methods of Lady Walderhurst by Frances Hodgson Burnett
I only have 13 books left on my list, so I had to repeat some. I am really slammed for November, what with Novellas in November and Nonfiction November, so I am hoping for one of the shorter books on the list. Wish me luck!

There are quite a few here I’ve never heard of. It will be interesting to see what you get!
Yes, it will!
Oh you’ve got some big ones there, hope you draw something easy/short!
So do I, especially at this time.
I enjoyed Our Mutual Friend, Les Miserables and The Three Musketeers, but I hope you can avoid those until you’re less busy! The Princess of Cleves is a shorter one, although I can’t remember much about it.
I hope so, too!
The reason they are still on my list is because I’ve been avoiding the fat ones so far. I’ll probably end up with only those left on it at the end.
Good luck!
Goodness, you’re brave putting Les Mis on your list! And Our Mutual Friend is a doorstopper too, if I remember rightly! Maybe one of the plays would be a good choice if you’re hoping for something short. We’ll soon know…
Yes, maybe right now! I haven’t looked yet.
I did get a play, Hero and Leander by Christopher Marlowe.
A play I don’t know at all – I’ll be interested to hear what you think of it!
I don’t know it, either. I’m not sure why I picked it. Maybe I have it downstairs in my library. I’m sure I had a book of Marlowe’s plays from college. I just didn’t read all of them.
