It seems like we just had one, but it’s time for Classics Club Spin #44. How does this work? Classics Club members post a numbered list of 20 of the books on their lists. The club picks a number, and that determines which book for the club you will read next. Lists have to be posted by this Sunday, May 17, and the deadline for reading the book is Sunday, July 5.
I don’t have much left to read on my current list, so this will be very repetitive:
- The Princess of Cleves by Madame de La Fayette
- Cecilia, Memoirs of an Heiress by Frances Burney
- Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens
- Les Misérables by Victor Hugo
- The Methods of Lady Walderhurst by Frances Hodgson Burnett
- The Tavern Knight by Rafael Sabatini
- The Princess of Cleves by Madame de La Fayette
- Cecilia, Memoirs of an Heiress by Frances Burney
- Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens
- Les Misérables by Victor Hugo
- The Methods of Lady Walderhurst by Frances Hodgson Burnett
- The Tavern Knight by Rafael Sabatini
- The Princess of Cleves by Madame de La Fayette
- Cecilia, Memoirs of an Heiress by Frances Burney
- Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens
- Les Misérables by Victor Hugo
- The Methods of Lady Walderhurst by Frances Hodgson Burnett
- The Tavern Knight by Rafael Sabatini
- The Princess of Cleves by Madame de La Fayette
- Cecilia, Memoirs of an Heiress by Frances Burney
So, there it is, my list! Happy reading, everyone!

There are some big reads there, but hope you get something fun!
Everything left is pretty fat, but I think there are some good ones there.
I loved Our Mutual Friend and Les Miserables and I thought The Princess of Cleves was interesting as well – and a lot shorter than those two! Good luck.
Our Mutual Friend will be a reread for me, but not the others.
Well, obviously I’d pick the Dickens, but I’d be interested to hear what you think of Cecilia, since I haven’t read any Burney and have Evelina on my new list. Hope you get a good one!
I thought Evelina was surprisingly readable.
That’s good to hear!
Good luck! Looks like your list is dwindling!
Yes, just a few left.
I know Dickens and Hugo are chunksters, but don’t know about the rest. I hope you enjoy whichever one comes up!
A bunch of the others are chunksters, too!
You’ve certainly got some doorstoppers going on there Kay!
No kidding! All the shorter ones already got picked!
Ha ha!
I’m in.
Odds are good for Les Misérables! I’m voting for it.
OK then.
Always a good idea to repeat books in your list. I’ve done the same for a while now. I’ve only read Les Misérables from yours but Our Mutual Friend is still on my wishlist.
Here is my list.
I just repeat them when I don’t have twenty left to read.
That’s a good idea. That’s how I found it, someone had done the same.
